Job Hunting = Sadness

Isaac and I are looking for jobs. He's finished with his graduate work and we are ready to move on. Problem is, so are about 1.5 million other recent graduates. This makes the job hunt rather discouraging.
I am so tired of spending hours and hours and hours on applications and cover letters and resumes and all manner of self-promotion only to:

1. Be told 'Thanks but no thanks' (Isaac actually got an email with that as the subject line! Who does that?!) or,
2. Hear nothing as if our applications have been sent into a resume black hole

It is monumentally frustrating. And, murder on the self-esteem.
Job Hunting really does equal sadness.

Job Hunting is the worst! It took me a year and half to find my current job, and with each rejection it got harder and hard. But have faith, it all works out in the end.

You ought to look into www.jobfox.com for an alternative to the job boards.

Best of luck!!!

It is very discouraging. We had a couple of openings at the court recently and had over a hundred applicants for each job. With those kind of numbers, most people's resumes just get overlooked. It really sucks to be one of the stack. Obviously, something will work out eventually but it is hard not to take things personally when you get rejected again and again.
Good luck.

Maybe Isaac needs to put "Professor" on all of his resumes. That might get some action. Hopefully the kind you need!
